The entire Bronte Glen vet and dog bed range is completely machine-washable, but our beds with covers include our Cosy/Cosy + and dog bed mattress options.
The Cosy washable dog beds consist of a mattress and raised edging filled with inserts stuffed with balled polyester fibre or wool filling (upon request). The outer cover holds the inserts in place and is made from various materials depending on the bed type.
Our mattress dog beds are rectangular-shaped and also filled with balled polyester inserts held together by a zipped outer cover.
Merino Wool Dog Beds
Our Merino Wool Beds and Dog Mattresses are a much-loved option – both by pet owners and their pets! They’re also much easier to clean than most people think.
The outer covers are made from 100% Merino wool, providing a luxurious sleeping surface for your dog. The wool has many advantageous properties, including heat retention, hypoallergenic, and moisture-wicking.
Tweed Wool Dog Beds
The outer covers of our Tweed Wool Beds and Dog Bed Mattresses are made using 100% Shetland wool tweed – a traditional and comfortable fabric.
The tweed wool provides extra comfort and warmth for your pup, creating a supportive layer to help them sleep comfortably. Due to its thick, cosy nature, your pup can stay warm and snuggly even in cold weather.

Our Senior Gold 7+ range of dog beds and mattresses have been specially designed for dogs that need some extra love or those who are simply pampered pups.
The washable covers are made with extra-heavyweight pile fabric from a blend of wool, polyester and antibacterial fibres, creating a unique bed that is strong, durable and easy to clean.

Trojan Waterproof Dog Beds
Our Trojan Waterproof Dog Beds and Dog Bed Mattresses are the most robust in our range, and they're a superb option for dogs that can't seem to stay away from mess, no matter how hard you try!
The waterproof covers are made from Ballistic nylon fabric, which is the same material used to make bullet and stab-proof vests. So it's safe to say they're pretty tough.
They're also still incredibly comfortable, thanks to the quality polyester filling.

Washable Mattress Dog Beds
If your dog prefers to sleep without the confinements of a raised-edge bed or you'd like a spare mattress to rotate around, then our dog bed mattresses are the perfect solution.

Once again, they're filled with balled polyester fibre as standard, which is processed at our working mill. The nature of these fibres prevents the filling from clumping over time, which we know can be a common problem with inferior mattresses.
Other fillings are also available upon request, such as wool, if you require something more tailored to your pup's needs.
The outer covers are made using the same materials we discussed above, depending on your chosen option. We have spare covers and inners available for all our beds, too. If not currently available on the website, please call to order.
Is the Whole Bed Fully Washable?
You can wash both the outer covers and the bed inserts, which is one of the reasons they're so loved.
Rather than only being able to wash just one part of the bed, you can wash the entire thing, helping to get rid of any nasties or mess.
How to Wash a Dog Bed with a Removable Cover
It's important to note that you can't just put the complete bed into your washing machine, though.
You will need to first remove the mattress from the bed (for our Cosy beds), then unzip (and undo the velcro sides if from our Cosy range) the outer covers. Following the correct instructions, you can then wash the covers and inserts separately as required.

How Often Should You Wash Dog Beds?
Bronte Glen beds are made using carefully selected, premium materials that really don't require frequent cleaning unless they are turned messy.
The wool used in our Merino, Tweed and Senior Gold beds has antibacterial properties that prevent the build-up of dust mites and other allergens, so they maintain a hygienic space for your dog.
Our Trojan beds can be spot-cleaned as and when needed to remove any mud or dirt, which reduces the need for full washes.
How to Spot Clean a Dog Bed
When it comes to our waterproof dog beds, you can simply use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe down the bed's cover.
Steer clear from using washing-up liquid or harsh detergents as this may damage the fabric and cause irritation to your dog's skin – just warm water should do it.
For tougher dirt, you can hose the bed down outside (just remember to allow it to dry completely before using). It's also important not to leave your dog's bed in direct sunlight, as this may cause the fabric to fade or discolour.
For our other beds, a similar method works, but only a little pressure should be applied when using cloths and don't use a hose.
Hoovering the bed can also remove surface dirt and hair easily.

To wash your Bronte Glen pet bed, remove the mattress from the bed. Then, unzip the outer covers from the bed and take out the inserts.
Wash the cover and inserts accordingly, depending on the type of material. Hand outside to air dry before reassembling.
All dog beds can be washed in some way. If you have purchased a bed that doesn't have removable covers, then you can use a cloth or sponge dipped in water and a pet-safe detergent solution to spot-clean the bed.
You'll need to first remove the mattress from the bed by pulling away from the velcro fastenings. Then, unzip the cover on both parts of the bed.
Remove the bed inserts from the inside. Once you have dismantled the bed, you can wash as required.
